Check your ELD. The October 6, 2026 deadline passed for five revoked devices. Switch now.

On August 6, 2026, FMCSA took five electronic logging devices off the registered list and put them on the revoked list: Moonlight ELD, HGRS ELD, Highest ELD, Truckford ELD, and Sparkle ELD. Carriers got up to 60 days to replace them, and that deadline, October 6, 2026, has passed. All five are still on the revoked list, and none has been reinstated. If you're still logging on one of them, you're running without a compliant ELD. Switch now.
This comes straight from an FMCSA newsroom bulletin, and the same five names were still on the live Revoked ELDs page when we checked. The reason FMCSA gave is short: the companies didn't meet the minimum technical specifications in 49 CFR Part 395, Subpart B, Appendix A. The agency didn't publish a detailed explanation of each device's defects.
What FMCSA told carriers
- Stop using the revoked ELDs. Switch to paper logs or logging software for hours of service.
- FMCSA told carriers to replace them with a device on the Registered Devices list by October 6, 2026.
That date has passed. If you haven't replaced the device, do it today.
The bulletin never said "keep running Moonlight until October 5." It said stop using the revoked unit and switch to paper or logging software while you replace it. The grace period, when officers were encouraged not to cite 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1) or 395.22(a) for these five, is over. Since October 6, FMCSA says a carrier still on one of these devices is operating without an ELD. Officers should cite 395.8(a)(1) and put the driver out of service under CVSA criteria.
Check the device in your truck
Write down the device name, model number, and the four-to-six character ELD identifier. Look it up on both the registered list and the revoked list. Don't rely on a vendor email saying the unit is fine. Under 49 CFR 395.22(a), the motor carrier is responsible for using a registered device.
If you use Moonlight (MRS / MRS255), HGRS (HGR / HRS169), Highest (HIG4ES / HIG385), Truckford (TRS / TRS263), or Sparkle (PT40SIM / SPARK6), you're already past the deadline. Replace it today. Only buy once you see that exact model on the live registered list, and screenshot or print the listing. Low-cost rebranded devices have been revoked in batches, and an unlisted device with a new logo has the same problem.
When the new unit goes in
Keep today's record of duty status plus the previous seven days, either loaded onto the new ELD or on paper. Restock blank graph-grid log sheets for at least eight days, plus the data-transfer and malfunction instruction sheets that still belong in the cab under 49 CFR 395.22(h).
If a vendor says your old unit was reinstated, check FMCSA's list before you plug it back in. None of the five has been. FMCSA says a provider can fix the problems and get back on the registered list, but don't keep operating out of compliance while you wait for that.
The July revocations
On July 9, 2026, FMCSA revoked ten more devices, including Ontime Logs iosix, LAST MINUTE ELD, Porter ELD, Zee HOS Compliance, EV ELD IOSIX, Light and Travel ELD, PREMIERRIDE LOGS, 2BRO ELD, 305 ELD, and TT ELD 40. Their replacement deadline was September 8, 2026, and that grace period is also over. If you're still using one of those, you're also operating without an ELD.
Check the device label against FMCSA's lists. Use paper logs if you have to, then switch to a registered ELD.
